why wonderchamber?
A wonderchamber is a container for a bunch of fun stuff. It is a place to be amazed, thoughtful and curious, to experience the unusual and unexpected. It is fueled by wonder.
Influenced by an extensive background as a generative theater artist, I often begin with the question 'What might happen if...?' This leads to beautiful and startling surprises, regardless of form.
If this wonderchamber is on the internet, why can't we think of the theater as a place of wonder as well, or the gallery, classroom, studio, or street, or any place creativity occurs? And, do we each have an internal, constant wonder chamber that can be unlocked by the magic, poetry, beauty or tragedy of another?

jane bennett writes about enchantment
"The mood I'm calling enchantment involves, at first instance, a surprising encounter, a meeting with someone that you did not expect and are not fully prepared to engage. Contained within this surprise state are 1) a pleasurable feeling of being charmed by the novel and as yet unprocessed encounter and 2) a more unheimlich (uncanny) feeling of being disrupted or torn out of one's default sensory-psychic-intellectual disposition. The overall effect of enchantment is a mood of fullness, plenitude, or liveliness, a sense of having one's nerves or circulation or concentration powers turned up or recharged - a shot in the arm, a fleeting return to childlike excitement about life."
i want
to charm you and move you, to disrupt you and invigorate you, to ignite your childlike curiosity while affirming your very depth and purpose. I am interested in our shared pleasure, knowing that pleasure does not always manifest in HA HA HA but is also in the sublime, the quiet, the tender, the astonishing jerk of heartache, the frantic outpouring of ideas, the ferocious outlay of full expression, the flurry of unknowing, the clarity of intent and the peace of space.
welcome
to my wonder chamber!
